Our founders, Myles and Jean McDonough, took bold steps in 1956 that led to 44 Maple Group today. That first bold step was to open a company in a garage at 44 Maple Street. That entrepreneurial spirit continues to drive 44 Maple Group today.

Myles and Jean saw an opportunity in the market to serve customers with lower order sizes than competitors would offer- and pounced on it. A core belief and value of our founders is that you can never remain on the same plane, and you can never get complacent. Due to this, the company went through many transformations as it found its niche in the market- which became coating and laminating of specialty films. This included companies such as Myles Processing Co., Vari Coating, and Flexcon.

Flexcon took off and became the premier solvent adhesive coater in specialty films due to the leadership of Myles & Jean and their son Neil. With Neil at the helm, we began to look to expand our portfolio in targeted and focused ways. This led to the acquisition of Arlon Graphics and Blueshift. Both fit the motto- along with Flexcon- of “best product for the application”.

Today, we manage this portfolio of assets for our founding family consisting primarily of our member companies. We are proud to have member companies who make the world safer, visible, and livable.
